Mitutoyo, the manufacturers of measuring systems, present the
generation B of their Litematic line. With its seven models, the
current series is much more extensive than its predecessor.
The Litematic models are highly accurate electronic measuring instruments
for particularly delicate workpieces that could be deformed
or damaged if subjected to excessive measuring forces.
The top-of-the-line model VL-50 AH has an error limit of
(0.1 + L/200) μm, all other models of (0.5 + L/100) μm, with L representing
the measuring height.
Their constant and low measuring force makes the Litematic units
ideally suitable primarily for measuring soft materials, such as rubber,
foams, plastics, films and sensitive moulded articles. Other exemplary
applications include the testing of precision spheres, layer thicknesses
and small machine components.
Depending on the versions, the new Litematic models employ measuring
forces of 0.01 N, 0.15 N or 1 N. In the 0.01 N version, the
measuring force can be additionally set to eleven levels between 0.01
N and 0.96 N (+ 0.10 N) by combining various additional weights.
The instruments feature a selectable resolution of 0.01 μm, 0.1 μm
and 1μm (.0000005“, .000005“ and .00005“).
As regards design, there are two different model versions in the Litematic
series: compact stationary devices with a "measuring table" as
well as versions with separate cable-bound control and probe units.
The top-of-the-line model with a 0.1 error limit is offered only as a
stationary device.
The motor-driven spindle movement of the Litematic provides for
flexible operation at different spindle speeds.
Both designs feature a basic measuring range of 0 to 50 millimetres.
However, since the probe unit, in the case of the model with separate
components, is mounted on a measuring stand of any desired height,
larger workpieces can also be measured with it effortlessly.
